Our April event will feature George Smith, who will discuss the Trees of Brighton, focusing on the history of trees in our landscape, and current efforts to maintain the presence of trees in our community – including the upcoming annual celebration of Arbor Day in Brighton. Brighton is a Tree City USA, an honor from the Arbor Day Foundation.

The presentation will include a guided tour of Edmunds Woods by Brian Eshenaur at Brighton Town Park, 777 Westfall Road – just down the road from Buckland House. The tour is “Rain or Shine” – so dress accordingly for an easy, mostly flat, short hiking trail.

About our presenters: George Smith has taught science at Brighton High School for the past 26 years – mostly AP Biology and AP Environmental Science. Mr Smith has also been on the Brighton Town Conservation Board for over 10 years. Brian Eshenaur is a staff member of the Cornell Cooperative Extension of Monroe County.
